For the second consecutive month, the Port of Los Angeles (POLA) saw a year-on-year increase in its container volumes.
In particular, the Californian port handled 748,440 TEUs in September, translating to a 5.4% growth compared to the same month in 2022.
Los Angeles port's loaded imports reached 392,608 TEUs in September, representing a year-on-year increase of 14%, while loaded exports rose by 55% to 120,635 TEUs.
September was the fourth consecutive month of year-on-year monthly export gains, according to POLA's data.
Additionally, September's empty containers totalled 235,197 TEUs, an 18.5% decline compared to the same month in the previous year.
In the first nine months of 2023, the major US port has processed 6,398,126 TEUs, translating to a year-on-year decline of 18.6%.
