11.10.25 – Laufer Client Advisory: Reduction of U.S. Flight Operations Amid Government Shutdown

Due to the ongoing government shutdown, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently announced reductions in the number of flights permitted over U.S. airspace.

Beginning this week, 40 major airports, including Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK), Chicago (ORD), and Atlanta (ATL)—will experience decreased flight activity as the FAA works to manage staffing shortages among air traffic controllers.

While at this time international long-haul operations remain largely unaffected, domestic flight reductions may lead to delays and limited cargo capacity across certain U.S. gateways.

Laufer is closely monitoring the situation and maintaining open communication with our airline partners to minimize potential service disruptions. Our teams are ready to assist with contingency planning and alternative routing options as needed.
