Carriers announce temporary suspension of South China feeder service - January through February 2021
Due to Covid 19 quarantine requirements for ship crew members prior to Chinese New Year, South China feeder services will be temporarily suspended for the months of January and February 2021.
Carriers have sent out announcements indicating that no cargo via feeder or barge service to South China main ports will be accepted during this time period.
Please be advised that carriers have announced that during this time period additional costs and liabilities may be incurred, including but not limited to:
- Additional feeder surcharges imposed by feeder operators
- Detention, Terminal storage or terminal charge at origin or transshipment ports
- Feeder schedule and capacity is subject to change and consignee to bear any extra cost for cargo idling more than 14 days at the transshipment port
Exact dates for resumption of service are pending further updates from feeder operators – at this time this expected to be after February 21, 2021. If you have suppliers impacted by the suspension of feeder service please work with them and your Laufer Group representatives to find alternative routing and transportation methods for your shipments during this time period.
Thank you for your continued support during these challenging times. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this advisory, please contact your local Laufer sales or operations representative.
